Hello Paddlers
Want to give you an update on our new website progress and a couple other things.
First, we hope to have the new website up in a couple weeks. The first phase will allow forum posts for Common Adventure trips and other topics of interest and ACA sanctioned trip creation and registration. We had hoped to get the website up and running long before now, but all the work is done by volunteers and they have jobs and families too.
In the meantime, there are two trips for which you can register now using the old system.
April 7-8, Eclipse Paddle:

April 13-14, Buffalo River Paddle:

If we have to, we’ll open up the next trip using the old system but I don’t anticipate having to do that.
Now, regarding membership status which I know many of you have questions about.
When asked up renewing memberships, back in November and December, I told people not to renew on the existing system, wait for the new website. Some of you went ahead and did that, some of you did not. If you did not renew your membership and thus technically have an expired membership, but want to go on one of the two trips mentioned above, go ahead and do so and choose the Member with appropriate ACA option.
If you are an ACA member, please use this link to check your status: Member Search - American Canoe Association. Please ensure your membership is current and you have a current ACA Annual Waiver. You can check that by clicking on your name and you’ll see an waiver date if you completed one.

After discussing the options, we decided that when the new website is up and running, we will ask all existing users of the old system to create a brand new account on the new. That way, there will be no question of what your userid or password is and all the questions asked when you register (which will be used to autofill trip registrations) will be current. (And avoid any possible corruption from importing the old info to the new.) You will have the option to join the club at the same time, but don’t choose the renew option at this point since that information is not there. You can also choose not to join the club and just have an account on the website -- more about that further down.
Now, what if you did join/renew recently on the old system? I know exactly who you are and will be contacting you individually. You will be given a “coupon” to use for the payment option and the expiration date will be manually set to match when you joined/signed up. That way you do not have to pay for a 2nd membership that overlaps your existing one.
There will be three main types of Club memberships: Individual at $20, Family at $30, and Affiliate Memberships. Stay tuned for more information about the Family membership – those with kids will really like this option.
As stated above, you will be allowed to create an account on the new website but not join the club. This will be considered a “Limited membership” and you will be able to post on the Forums and attend Common Adventure trips but not sign up for ACA sanctioned trips. There will be no option for Guest attendees on the ACA sanctioned trips when the website is first stood up but that will come later. (Again, trying to get this website up quickly and that is more complicated.)
Please let me know if you have any questions. There will also be a forum post on this.
