ParticipantDennis, look forward to paddling with you again.

ParticipantYou never know someone may paddle on Sunday, we won’t be, we’ll be heading home.

ParticipantShelly,
I do not know what we’ll paddle Thursday as we typically discuss as a group the evening before. If you are only staying Wednesday night you can park on my site 23 as my girlfriend JoAnne isn’t arriving until Thursday afternoon. Site 25 is also someone in the group, his name is Pat, you can probably just park in between our sites as they are pretty large. If you are staying longer I’m sure we can find somewhere else for you to park or just stay in between me and Pat as I don’t think anyone else is staying with Pat at 25.I am arriving Wednesday early afternoon to set up camp but we will not be there in the evening as we have family in Eminence and we are going to have dinner with them on Wednesday evening but plenty of others will be there. Look forward to meeting you.

ParticipantAwesome. Will you be there Friday morning early enough to paddle Friday or Friday afternoon? Just want to be on the look out for you. My husband and I are in 23.

ParticipantLook forward to paddling with you next week.

ParticipantI just wanted to post an update that our trip is still a go for next week. I have received some additional information that the recreation.gov website is working and taking reservations, if you have issues the suggestion was to update the app. Rangers (these are the law enforcement rangers) do have a list of reservations and are checking and ticketing people who are trying to camp for free, my understanding is this has been happening at Alley Spring. Since the signal at Pulltite is not great it was suggested to me by this person to have a printed copy of your reservation. If anyone is interested in joining and can’t get the reservation website to work please reach out to me and I will see if anyone in the group who already doesn’t have two tents on a site can accommodate another tent. As the rule is 2 tents, 6 people. I already have 2 tents on my site. My cell is 3143686336

ParticipantI did just hear from someone in the group who was able to make a reservation at Pulltite yesterday, he said he made it at 4:15 pm and received a confirmation email and when I look the site he is in no longer shows available. So maybe try again later.

ParticipantYeah, I’m not sure. I know they have this message out there – you may not be able to complete a reservation for any time in the future or complete a purchase for some passes during the lapse-in-funding period. i haven’t received any cancellation for my reservation starting on the 15th at this point.

ParticipantDorine, that is so sweet of you but I do live in STL, born and raised. I live in North County in Florissant. I just don’t do the Meramec very much as I love the Current more and I’m willing to drive longer to get there. But for a day trip the Meramec is perfect!
Pamela Huddleston
ParticipantSounds good. It does have scratches already on it but I try and not take it on sections where I could scrape if at all possible. Thanks again!
Pamela Huddleston
ParticipantI am interested but did want to confirm that it will be on Sunday the 5th as the Title of the post says 10/06/2025 Meramec Blue Spring to Meramec State Park, and the 6th is Monday.
Also, I don’t paddle the Meramec often so I don’t know water levels like I do on the Current and I’m trying to figure out which boat to bring as I paddle a solo canoe. I would love to bring my Northstar Phoenix but if the water level is to low and I would scrape a lot I would bring a royalex canoe. Any input on water level from folks that know that river and section best is appreciated.
Thanks,
PamPamela Huddleston
ParticipantI don’t think anyone knows right now but I see lot’s of opinions. LOL
I have been watching the Current River, Jacks Fork & Eleven Point River (Missouri Scenic Rivers) board on FB and Bill O’Donnell said he was going to do some checking.
I saw this posted about the Eleven Point – I called the Eleven Point/Doniphan Ranger district to ask specifically about the Greer Crossing campground, they said they are working today to close it down, and the gates will be closed. So at the very least, within the Mark Twain National Forest, the accesses that have gates will be closed.
I haven’t received anything from Recreation.gov and this morning it looked like you could still make a reservation. But my reservation didn’t start until 10/15 so that is still 2 weeks away.
The only really issue if they do keep camping open is the bathrooms, will they keep those open or close them? There is a pit toilet at the back of the campground by the group sites.
I think right now we just don’t know and we’ll be keeping an eye on it and of course I’ll post once I know more or if anyone else hears something please share the info.
This is the link posted on National Parks that does talk about contingency plans, but I think this could always be subject to change- https://www.doi.gov/shutdown?fbclid=IwY2xjawNKrJhleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHhDi1i_ekwBpenc1KGeTyQPo-QDzpQ1yufzmXBCwGhhU4o9YjEY5BGIs9sBO_aem_0-5dhu9mQZwu1Z4ygTZ6cw

ParticipantHope you can join us. This time of year there usually isn’t an issue getting a camp site. Used to be first come, first serve on 10/15 but that changed this year.
Pamela Huddleston
ParticipantWould love to have you join us!
