I have come down with a bad cold or something else so I am not going.

Randy is bringing Matt Miller now.

For those of you who have not been on the Current before, you might want to print out the Current River mile by mile so you can identify the springs and caves and other things you pass.

Alley Spring Campground is open for reservations and has plenty of open spots.

    Briana,

Try a different browser. That has happened to me when using Edge. I switch to Chrome and it works.

We are exploring other options due to river conditions and the forecasted thunderstorms Thursday night.

Those of us who have already signed up: Randy, Matt, John, Greg and myself are communicating via a group text.

If anyone else is interested in paddling somewhere, please call or text me ASAP. Do not post here or wait until you see something posted here.

    Thank you.

Yes, packing for an overnight trip in a kayak is an artform. I believe a good sleeping pad is essential and worth the space given the Ozark Mountain gravel and rock bars for tent sleepers. Think multiple small bags vs a couple big ones and put tent components in separate bags vs everything in the original bag. Definitely test pack before the trip!

    Hi Greg!

That would be great and yes, we could use your trailer!

Please text me at 636-922-3663 and I’ll give you a call to discuss the trip. I’m sure Ed will get your membership in time.

And yes, Huzzah Conservation Area Access at 10:00am on Tuesday.

    Kurt,

It’s possible you’ll be able to string a hammock but because of the flooding, there will be a lot of debris in the bushes and trees along the river bank. There really is no way to predict one way or another at this point.

You might want to review the posts on the Facebook pages: Current River, Jacks Fork & Eleven Point River (Missouri Scenic Rivers), Ozark Riverways Foundation, and Ozark National Scenic Riverways. Pictures on that site should give you a good idea of what the river banks look like.

    Hi John

Let me know if you have any questions.

We’ve changed the put-in and take-out to Woodson K Woods by Maramec Park and Huzzah Conservation Area.

Depending on how many people sign up (right now, it’s you, me, Matt Miller and maybe one other) we will meet at REI as stated on the trip description or people can meet at the take out where we’ll consolidate boats and people and go to the put-in

    Hello Paddlers

Just want to clarify something. We recommend no longer then 14′ long boats unless you are really good! 🙂 The first section of the river is small and twisty so the shorter the better.

If you sign up for this trip or have any questions, please text me immediately.

Note that because of the storms and the amount of rain, we won’t be making a definitive go/no-go decision until Tuesday or Wednesday after talking to park rangers and outfitters about river conditions.

    Thank you
