I do have a couple of people interested, so we should be able to work out a shuttle plan. Let’s meet at Chouteau Claim at 10:00 am. I plan on sticking with the 5 miles. If anyone else wants to join us, let me know or be there on time. Please dress for the weather and water conditions.
Looks like we should have enough for a shuttle, so as posted before let’s meet at Sand Ford by 9:00 am to work out the shuttle. Will be chilly when we start but should warm up nicely.
Looks like the weather has cleared up nicely for the weekend so we will go with the original days and paddle Saturday-Sunday. I will be heading down Friday to camp at Greer Crossing. I would like to meet there by 8:30 am to work out the shuttle. With the shorter days we need to avoid any delays. Please dress appropriately for the weather and water conditions. Post here to confirm if you plan on joining me or need any further details.
The last time I was down there this summer they were still using the old pay envelopes that you deposit your fee with at the checkin station. So bring cash. It is federal so half price with your senior pass. They used to not charge after Nov. 15 but I don’t know if that still applies. The water system there does not have frost free fixtures, so with the cold days they may have shut the water off early.
As I said, I am watching the weather forecast. The cold front and rain that was predicted for Sunday night originally is now supposed to happen Saturday night. So how would people feel about moving the paddle to Friday and Saturday? I would make a final decision on Wednesday, but do not want to surprise people and give them time to adjust their schedule.
The weather still looks great and I should have enough to work out a shuttle plan, so this paddle is a go. Let’s meet at Robertsville State Park boat ramp by 9:30 am to combine boats and head up to the put-in. Still plan on bringing some hotdogs to roast for lunch. If you have special dietary requirements, you are on your own. Remember while it should be warm the water is still colder this time of year, so dress appropriately. What do you mean by total time? Generally we get off the river around 3:00 or 3:30, but I have no ideal what may happen. I know lunch will be a little longer than usual since some hot dogs and buns will be falling into my shopping cart tomorrow and they will need to be roasted for lunch. If you are under some type of time constraint this may not be the best paddle for you.
Looks like I have enough interest for a shuttle. Will push back the start time with the cool mornings we have now. Those that want too, can meet at the Eureka Walmart at 8:30 to combine boats and head up to Blue Springs Conservation Area to drop a back shuttle vehicle . Anyone wanting to meet us at Blue Springs should be there by 9:30. Let me know if you are coming and where you plan on meeting the group at. Weather is getting colder so be sure to dress appropriately.
Sure Scott, I have site 8 reserved. I will probably go into Eminence for supper, so I might not be there when you get there.
See you Saturday morning Don. Was able to get a camp site at Two Rivers for Friday night so will be heading down Friday. Were a lot of sites available and website is up and working.
