KeymasterDue to the fact that the operators of the cave tour want three weeks notice in order to schedule their guides and safety boaters the cutoff date for registering for this trip is August 5th. If anyone has been procrastinating about signing up for this trip don’t put it off too much longer.

KeymasterWe will be paddling 6 to 8 hours each day. For your numbness you might want to try a cushion. I found that the Jackson Sweet Cheek work well. It eliminated both numbness and sciatic pain. Other people have found cushions in front of seats supporting thighs help with numbness.

KeymasterHopefully have a couple of people joining me so this trip is on. Would like to meet at Meramec State Park boat ramp at 8:00 am to combine boats and shuttle up to the put-in. Should be off the river before it gets too hot. Bring lunch and liquids. Bring a mask for the shuttle. Post here or text call me if you want to join us.

KeymasterI’m interested providing everyone in shuttle wears a mask . Kathy

KeymasterChecked the gauge this morning and the creek looks good for the paddle tomorrow. Looks like most of the rain stayed north of 44. I will continue to keep an eye on it but don’t expect a need to cancel. The plan is to meet at the Scotia access at 9:30 and combine boats to shuttle up to the put-in. If you plan on coming call, text me or post here. There is a chance for rain in the late afternoon so be sure to bring rain gear just in case. To get to the Scotia access you continue across the Meramec on HWY H at Onondoga Cave State Park. HWY H will become HWY E and Scotia Access will be on your left just before you cross Huzzah Creek.

KeymasterI’ve had several people text me saying they are interested in joining me, so this trip is a go. Water level still looks good. Plan on meeting at Scott’s Ford at 9:30am to combine boats to shuttle up to Woodson K. Be sure to bring lunch and water since it’s going to be warm. Looking to do a nice relaxing day on the river.

KeymasterIn low water, summer, I’ve seem a lot of people catching large fish below Double Drop while fishing from the boulders .

KeymasterThanks Kathy
We are planning on going to DiSalvo lake (Bismarck Conservation area). Rivers are likely going to be to high and to murky for fishing.admin
KeymasterI will be doing a swift water rescue class on St Francis this weekend. The river is already near bridge level and more rain today and tomorrow morning . I wouldn’t suggest that river now . Kathy

KeymasterYou may be correct on river levels being to high. I would go to the Castor. If river levels are to high we could go to DiSalvo Lake (Bismarck Conservation Area). I was thinking Gasconade near Jerome or St. Francis Silver Mines to E highway. MDC says there is good population of walleye in the St. Francis. I have never been on Castor or Gasconade and never paddled that section of St. Francis.

KeymasterWhich section on St Francis or Gasconade are you thinking of, most sections still look blown out with all the rain we got last week or so. I was on stream clean April 10 on the upper Castor. It could be fishable by Saturday if we don’t get more rain.

KeymasterOK, see it now. But in one place it says it is on the Mississippi River and the Big River in the other. Which is it? Thanks
