I am going to work on whitewater skills if you want at the dam breach on the Big River at Cedar Hill. We will be working catching eddies, peeling out of eddies, crossing eddy lines and ferrying.
I just checked and the sites are not reservable that early in the year. They do not start taking reservations until April 1. I assume that is because they do not think they will sell out as in past years the campgrounds had plenty of open sires. I plan to come down after work on Friday and camp Friday night and Saturday night.
I haven’t paddled with this club before and haven’t done one of the safety clinics.
I’ve only been paddling in creve coeur lake and before that the worlds fair marina.This is a 7 mile paddle. Not a beginner trip due to water temperature and the river being up. Have you paddled with the club before or done one of our safety clinics? How many rivers have you paddled on?
Have enough people for a shuttle, so barring unforeseen consequences this paddle is on. Meet at the Allenton access by 10:00 am to combine boats and shuttle up to the put-in. Be sure to dress appropriately for the water and weather conditions. Bring extra dry clothes in a waterproof dry bag if you don’t have a dry suit. Bring water and a lunch.
Thank you, Dennis, for setting up the trip. Water temp ~45, air temp ~60, & sunny. Water was murky due to rain up stream. Saw eagles occupying a nest, heron, and a couple boaters just out for a day in pleasant weather. Dennis, Jenn, and I enjoyed a good paddle.
Now I’m backing out. Don’t know what I was thinking. Have appt with ortho doc on Thurs because my damn elbow kills me when I paddle. So sorry. Y’all have a great time.
