I have 3 paddlers so trip is on . Meet at Blue Springs Conservation Area at 9 am . We will try to leave most cars there. I can carry 5 boats and people up to Onondaga . Louise is coming. Joe , if you want to car pool from my house, give me a text . Kathy
This is a 10 mile float suitable for rec boats, canoes .
Bring water, lunch, sunscreen, dry clothes post trip. If your not an ACA member I’ll have to charge $10 for ACA insurance. No alcohol or pot on the river. Dave and Kathy, thank you for offers of boats! I have crappy paddles and good PFDs for the kids. I hope to figure out at the skills clinic what to borrow for dealing with my kiddos – we’ll have two adults and two kids in my party.
My 6yo definitely needs to be in a boat with me. I’m not sure if my 9yo is ready to be in his own boat on moving water, so I might need to borrow a rec tandem + use my K2 between the two adults and two kids. Again…hoping to learn more from the clinic, and also learn more about what types of sit-in boats they start young kids in before I consider buying something.
I would like to go but have a commitment back in town at 2pm. Is it reasonable to think we would be off the water and I could get back to St. Louis by then…?
Looks like I have enough for a shuttle, so this paddle should be a go. I will watch the river gauge tomorrow just to make sure the forecasted rain doesn’t cause a problem. Plan is the same as last trip. Those who want to can meet at Eureka Walmart by 8:30 to combine boats and head up to the put-in. If you don’t want to meet at Eureka you can meet us at the Woodson K. access by 10:00.
