Sorry for the short notice but had to make sure weather was favorable and get a permit from MDC. This is a Common Adventure trip.

Plan is to meet at the Cuivre Island Access in St Charles county by 6:30 PM, Sunday Aug 10. Cuivre Island Conservation Area (parking lot) Dalbow Rd, O’Fallon, MO 63366.

Launch by about 7:00 PM, we will paddle up the Cuivre Slough just over four miles, land at the top of Cuivre/Turkey Island to cook hot dogs and S’mores while watching the Perseid Meteor shower, Then paddle down the Mississippi River to the bottom of the island, back into the slough and about 3/4 mile back to our starting point, no shuttle required! This trip is limited to twenty paddlers and must have a minimum of four. Open fires are not allowed, I will bring a small camp stove if at least two others could bring stoves or charcoal grills,it would be very helpful. I will bring hot dog’s and S’mores for all who reply to this post, Others are welcome to bring items to share if they want.

This will be a nightime paddle on both sheltered and open waters of the Mississippi, boats over 14 feet in length are strongly recommended. Paddlers should be comfortable handling boat/barge wakes, manuevering around and over wing dams, possible wind. All paddlers are required to have a bright white light and a whistle. I will bring a marine radio and ask any other paddlers who have one to bring it along.

Each paddler is responsible for bringing their own non-alcoholic beverages. water, food, chairs, bug spray and proper clothing. I will bring hot dogs, buns, condiments, S’mores, and roasting sticks.Please reply as soon as possible. SYOTW Randy

Wise Choice Joan, JUoe and I just spoke and we agree that is the best decision. Unfortunately I just took a pan of dark chocalate brownies with a crea cheese swirl out of the oven and will have to eat them all to keep from hurting her feelings, thats okay , willing to take a hit for the teeam.
