Is anyone camping the night prior? I would like but don’t want to camp by myself.

I just checked and the sites are not reservable that early in the year. They do not start taking reservations until April 1. I assume that is because they do not think they will sell out as in past years the campgrounds had plenty of open sires. I plan to come down after work on Friday and camp Friday night and Saturday night.

Yeah, it says there is no availability. I guess I’ll just show up.

I just signed up for this trip and it looks like I’m on a waiting list. If I get in, I too, will probably drive down on Friday, March 24.

The trip is 2 weeks away. I am paying attention to both the weather and the stream level. This will be a cool weather paddle so dress for immersion. Bring a wet suit orrvdry suit if you have one. If not you should not wear any cotton clothing and bring at least a one change of clothes in a dry bag.

There is a considerable amount of rain forecasted for this week. If the gauge looks to be over 4 feet on the Sam A Baker https://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?site_no=07037300&legacy=1 I will cancel the trip. I will continue to monitor the forecast and the gauge this week. I will be leaving for the park Friday @ noon and make a discision before that time.

I was just signing on to ask you about water levels. Great minds think alike! 5 days of rain could make this dicey. Will wait to hear from you.

The trip is canceled due to flooding. Big Creek is Guage is over 7 feet. The cut off is 4 feet for the park to put people on. It is predicted to rain all day today and tonight.

Good move. Thanks for letting us know. Maybe we can reschedule sometime in April?

Big Creek is above 9 feet. I have done it at 8 feet and it was a challenge for experienced whitewater paddlers and took less than 2 hours yo ho 10 miles. I wouldn’t want to go at 9 feet. The creek is out of its bank and into tje trees.
