Hello Paddlers

If you’ve been on the Mississippi River, you probably know about the iconic Kinder’s Restaurant at the Golden Eagle Ferry in Calhoun County. It burned down a couple years ago but it has finally reopened. Let’s support them by paddling over for lunch.

Join me at Riverside Landing Park in St Charles at 11am on Saturday, November 1st. This is an out and back paddle so no shuttling is required. We will paddle UP the Dardenne Slough to the Golden Eagle Ferry ramp and then cross the Mississippi. I checked with Kinder’s and then do have a place for us to land. After we eat, we’ll decide want we want to do. I have heard of some caves along the shoreline north of Kinder’s that I’ve always wanted to check out. The river has been really low and even with this week’s rain, the current still should not be too bad.

The forecast is supposed to be dry and cool but as always, dress for immersion. Boats 14+ are recommended, sea kayaks preferred and you should be able to perform assisted rescues. We won’t be doing a lot of paddling but will be going upstream against the current.

Did anyone from our group lose a black silk head covering today? Found it at the roundabout leaving Riverside landing. Let me know if it’s yours. Randy

I think it’s mine. It was in the pocket of my jacket (and not now) but I’m not sure how it got in the roundabout! 🙂

I’ll be at the November meeting and can get it then or the Christmas party.
