Forecast is in the 60s this weekend and I’m itching to cure my cabin fever with an overnight on the Current Sunday/Monday. I don’t see any live water temp data available online. I’m seeing (from unreliable sources online) that due to being spring fed, the water temperature is above 50 degrees year round. I have a lot of experience on the river in the shoulder seasons with air temps lower than this weekend. However, I don’t have a dry suit and don’t want to take any extreme risks – but if the water temps are similar to Spring or Fall, it seems like there wouldn’t be a difference in risk. Could any of you more experienced winter paddlers help steer me in the right direction?

Trent, you just found a delightful plus of Missouri waters. I have been paddling with a group at 4 degrees air temperature on the Current River. I have been the same place in summer when my feet were cold against the floor of my aluminum canoe. Bring extra clothes in a dry bag just in case and enjoy your trip.

Thanks, Joan. You gave me the confidence to get out there. My cousin and I had a great time!
