Would anyone be interested in a weekend camping trip at Cuivre River State Park near Troy, Missouri — about 2 hours or less from the St Louis area.
Now, why go camping so close? It would be perfect for beginner campers or if you haven’t shaken the dust off your camping gear in a while. Nothing like driving hours to a campground in the middle of nowhere and discovering you’ve forgotten something or some essential piece of equipment isn’t in good condition. If you want to take your kids on their first camping experience, it’s not too far to drive and if it just isn’t working out, you can go home.
It’s a beautiful park with a great lake for kayaking/canoeing/paddling boarding by all skill levels. There are hiking trails and you’d think you were in the middle of the Ozarks.
