      St. Louis Kayak & Canoe Club Meeting Minutes
      November 2, 2023

      Attending Board Members: Eileen Lenkman, Carolyn Knarr, Natalie Johnson, Jacob Rohter
      Time: November 2nd, 2023, 7:00 PM
      Location: Shrewsbury Community Center – 5200 Shrewsbury Ave Saint Louis, MO 63119

      The meeting was called to order by Eileen Lenkman at 7:05 PM.

      Announcements
      Next month is the holiday party – Vice President Carolyn Knarr will run the meeting.
      Attendees are encouraged to bring a labeled dish and serving utensil.
      Help is needed with set up/take down.
      Club insurance has been finalized. For more information, especially to address questions about pop up trips, be sure to visit the forum.
      The old website will be coming back no later than the end of the year. We will no longer utilize Red Fox.
      Committees are being established and your participation is encouraged. Carolyn will chair our membership committee.

      Presentation: Team River Runner
      Sally Haywood presented.
      Team River Runner’s mission is to provide all veterans and their families an opportunity to find health, healing, community purpose, and new challenges through adventure and adaptive paddle sports. There are currently 60 active Chapters.
      Team River Runner is currently interested in partnering with the St. Louis Canoe & Kayak Club. One of the Club’s committees will look further into this opportunity. The benefit is participants of Team River Runner will want to paddle more with the Club.
      St. Louis Canoe and Kayak Club members are invited to participate in Team River Runner’s pool sessions. If you’re not a Veteran, the cost is $10. Other events and information can be found at ors.teamriverrunner.org (sort for Missouri).

      Presentation: Missouri Stream Team
      Brian Waldrop presented.
      Missouri Stream Team is a working partnership of citizens who are concerned about Missouri Streams. The Stream Team Program provides an opportunity for all citizens to get involved in river conservation.
      Brian emphasized that it is time for the St. Louis Canoe & Kayak Club to become an official Stream Team! Volunteers receive access to free trainings and resources for clean ups/water quality monitoring. Stream Team has events both to get people on streams in addition to improving waterways: mostreamteam.org/calendar-of-events.html.
      Stream Teams United hosts Paddle MO – an opportunity to group paddle the Missouri River. Trips can be viewed at paddlemo.org.
