I have signed up for the Annual Skills Clinic and have a question about camping. In reading the trip summary, it appears that the camping fee has been paid for via annual dues. Thank you. My question: I will be sleeping in the back of my pickup truck [a new truck tent I’ve not used yet]. Is there a spot close to others to park my truck for this? [I don’t want to have to park my truck far away from the campers, as I will be all alone and that might be a little scary.] I hope my question makes sense.

Yvonne, Could you explain your set-up a little more. Does the tent extend beyond the pick-up bed and if so how far? There are some parking slots attached to the Group site that might work if we have more information.

My family and I are planning on attending. I would like to learn more on Canoe-ing skills. I’m a beginner at canoeing. Do we need to bring our own canoe/kayak?

Greg, We currently have Group site GRPA reserved and have discussed getting an additional site once we have a better idea on how many attendees will be camping. Information can be found at recreation.gov Council Bluff Recreation Area. The campground area does not have water or electric. The campground water system failed some years ago and has not been repaired. Pit style toilets are available. Water is available at the concession area by the swimming beach. There are pay showers, flush toilets and sinks in that area. However this area is only certain times of the day, so plan wisely if you want to take advantage of these facilities. There is a roped off swimming area and sand beach if you have additional family members who will not be participating in the skills clinic.

Mohammed, I think we will have enough people for us to offer canoeing. We have not offered it in recent years but there seems to be some interest this time in addition to your family. Please bring your canoe if you have one. If you need kayaks or a canoe or two for your family, I need to know that, too. Also an idea of your size(s).
It is helpful if anyone bringing extra boats lets me know (Thanks, Scott).

Dennis, the tent on the back of my truck does NOT stick out passed the tailgate in an open position. Hopefully, I can park/camp close to a group of campers.

Angela, We have not closed registration yet, but are getting close to maximum capacity. So if you want to attend you should register soon.

It’s going to be very hot. Please drink a lot of water, add electrolytes, and stay wet and you’ll have a great time . Long sleeve shirts for all day on the water keep you from sunburn and cooler. Glass retainer for sun glasses. Kathy
