ParticipantThinking about doing a short paddle Sunday. Meramec State Park to Sand Ford. We would meet at Sand Ford by 8:00 am to combine boats and shuttle up to the put-in. This is only a 7 mile paddle so would hope to be off the river around a little after noon to avoid the major heat of the day. We could do some short breaks to cool off in the water, but probably not a full lunch break just some snacks. Post here or text me if you are interested. I will confirm Saturday if I get enough interest for a shuttle.

I am interested in Sunday’s paddle on the Meramec but I won’t know for sure until Friday. I have a trailer that can easily hold 3 kayaks and 2 canoes. It has carried more.FYI I don’t text. I can be reached by email at:

ParticipantLynn, To get to the Sand Ford access you at Stanton on HWY 44 take the HWY W exit. You will go a few miles and the highway will take a sharp turn to the right and the access entrance will be on your left just after the turn before you get to Meramec Caverns. There was a sign there for it.

ParticipantThank you Randy and Dennis! I plan to attend but if the heat advisory turns into an air quality advisory also…I will need to bail.

ParticipantConfirming this paddle for those who want to join me. I understand if people don’t want to come with the heat advisory. Would appreciate if you post whether or not you are coming so I will know who is attending.

ParticipantI plan to attend, assuming I get up when my alarm goes off. For those concerned about the heat, water fights with bilge pumps aka water cannons are a great way to cool off. I think I have a couple extra. Bilge pumps and paddle floats should be standard safety equipment anyway.
