We will meet at the Route 66 State Park Boat Ramp at 10:30 am. I am conside3ring two options depending on weather and water conditions.

Option 1: Launch at Route 66 Boat Ramp and paddle upstream to where the Big River enters the Meramec and return to the boat ramp. We would stop for a short break on a gravel bar by the confluence of the two rivers. This is about a 6 mile round trip paddle. Since we would be returning to the put-in this option would not entail any shuttling of vehicles or boats. This stretch normally does not have much current, but since we would be paddling upstream for the first half, longer boats would be best suited.

Option 2: Combine boats and shuttle up to the Allenton River Access. We would launch from there and do a 5 mile paddle to the Route 66 River Access. This would require shuttling of vehicles and boats, but would be better suited for shorter boats.

Please be awoke the weather and water conditions and dress appropriately ( NO COTTON). This paddle as all paddles is weather and water conditions dependent and I will monitor these and post any cancellation or changes. Be sure to check the website forum for these. Let me know if you have a preference on which option we do.

I will be checking if Altos Cantina will be open for a late lunch again this year.
Post here or text me if you plan on attending.

Posting an update for this paddle. Weather looks chilly in the low thirty’s, but no precipitation or high winds, so I anticipate going ahead with option 1 in my post. Meet at Route 66 State Park boat ramp by 10:30 am. We will paddle upstream then return to the Put-in. Please heed warning about dressing appropriately for the weather and water conditions.

I have checked with Alto’s Cantina and they will be open New Year’s Day, so I am planning on a late lunch after the paddle there. Anyone is welcome to join me there, even if you do not paddle.

I think that I signed up for this trip, but I have to cancel. I have relatives in from out-of=town, and need to spend the time with them.

I’m not fully over the cold I’ve got so I’m unfortunately not able to paddle NYD
