National Public Lands Day

September 27

September 27, 2025

National Public Lands Day (NPLD) is the largest single-day volunteer event for public lands held across the United States each year on the fourth Saturday in September. Activities in the Confluence Region will take place on Saturday September 27, 2025.

Volunteers from Paddling St. Louis area paddling clubs as well as other organizations which use public lands will come together for a morning of volunteer service, followed by lunch at the Audubon Center at Riverlands. Volunteers may be needed for planting, BioBlitz, and/or river clean-up. Greenway Network Conservation Teams and other volunteers often work on public lands near the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers. The Cora Island Unit of the US Fish and Wildlife Big Muddy Refuge, the Missouri Dept. of Natural Resources Jones Confluence State Park, and the US Army Corps of Engineers Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary need your help conserving and restoring our lands and water. We work rain or shine, so bring your sunscreen or rain gear! But bring gloves, a water bottle, and boots or sturdy shoes either way. Come outdoors and join the fun!

We will post more information regarding St. Louis Canoe and Kayak Club’s participation as this gets closer.  If you belong to another club that may be interested in participating in this event, please let Debbie or Joan know.
