St Louis Canoe & Kayak Club › Forums › Common Adventure Trips › July 4th Fireworks Paddle
Hello Paddlers
Join us for paddling and fireworks on July 4th. We’ll meet at 2pm* at Blanchette Boat Ramp, consolidate boats, then drive to the Weldon Springs Conservation Area. Will need sea kayaks/canoes, have taken the Skills Clinic or have equivalent skills and be capable of a 20 mile paddle.
Bring coolers and camp chairs that you’ll leave in your car. You can watch the fireworks from the Blanchette Boat Ramp or walk to the Saint Charles Frontier Park to have dinner if desired and watch the fireworks from there. Afterwards, you can quickly get on Hwy 370 to return to St Louis or easily get to Hwy 70, bypassing all the traffic.
If you don’t want to paddle, consider joining us at Blanchette Boat Ramp for the fireworks and dinner at Saint Charles. If you want to come, please reply and indicate if you want to paddle and stay for fireworks or if you are just coming for dinner and fireworks. Meeting time for the non-paddlers will be between 5-7 but will depend on the river conditions. Will clarify the meeting time closer to the date.
*The 2pm meeting time will be adjusted depending on the river level and current speed.
