Hi Karen – Canoecopia – despite the canoe-centric name – was a kayaker’s paradise! Loads of free clinics and lectures by experts, and a great variety of equipment and boats (with good discounts on everything). I picked up a new Delta 16 sea kayak, which will be my boat for the big rivers, lakes, and sea (if I make it there). Am looking forward to your Carlyle Lake trip, plus Twin Rivers, if you lead a trip there. Thanks for your leadership at researching and organizing the. paddle(s). As for registering any trips, I suggest you coordinate with Club President Marty Koch.

Hi Dennis, what did you find at Canoecopia”? I’m trying to figure out how to register the long distance paddle at Carlyle Lake May 17th. Will connect with you for another kayak at Two Rivers National National Wildlife Refuge. Such a cool place! And you get to take a free frerry from IL river road to the site. OMG, you have to go there.

Looking forward to it! I sprung for paddling knee high boots but they haven’t arrived yet. If anyone has an extra pair of water socks/boots that would fit size 9-10 women (8-9 men?) I could borrow that would be amazing. Otherwise I’ll bring my wellingtons for entry/exit again, they worked fine last time.

    I’m going.
Hi Kathy. What kayak will you be using tomorrow? If possible, I’d like to paddle your Dagger Stratos 14.5 L. Otherwise I’ll bring my Jackson Karma RG.

I do have enough people for a shuttle so this paddle is a go. Plan on meeting at the Eureka Walmart parking lot at 10:00 am to then head to Robertsville State Park to leave a vehicle for the back shuttle. If you haven’t contacted me please post here or text me if you wish to join us.

I don’t know why you need a high angle paddle . Any paddle can be paddled high angle. Heck, I paddle my Greenland high angle, as well as my whitewater boat. I have an extra paddle, but more importantly, do you have proper clothes to dress for immersion? The water will be cold and keeping your feet, and body warm is essential. Kathy

How about Uhlemeyer on the Bourbeuse to Robertsville State Park on the Meramec. This is close, a short shuttle and about twelve miles. Is going to be cold Wednesday morning (30 degrees) so I would suggest that we start later than usual to let things warm up. Bourbeuse should be at a good level by Wednesday. We would need at least one more person to make a shuttle work. So if anybody else is interested let us know. Will post details if we get any interest.

Small river, <=60 min drive, Meramec? 8-15 miles depending on how fast it’s moving. I put my kids on the school bus at 7:45, could leave my house at 8:45, but I have no hard stop time.
