I went ahead and updated Joomla to the latest version today (Monday). I also created this forum category for website configuration or moderation discussions.
This forum is only visible to authors and moderators.

I am going to start experimenting with a few things, including an empty plug-in. Hopefully I won’t create problems.
I changed the Kunena Moderators to be global moderators. I doubt we will need category-specific moderation.
