Nine paddlers showed up for today's Cuivre Island trip. Knowing that Cedar Hill Resort was closed the fast current and headwinds at the top of Cuivre Island made the decision not to continue upstream easy.

After a lunch break on the island we crossed the Mississippi for the sheltered waters along the Illinois shore.  Apparently the egrets have moved their nesting site as we seen no sign of them we did encounter a very energetic group of jumping carp.

After circling the isle and crossing the river again we made short work of the upstream section completing our circle around Cuivre Isand.

Paddlers ranged in age from fourteen to eighty-seven and seasoned paddlers to those with limited experience on big water.  Good weather and good company made for an enjoyable day on the water.

Thanks to all.
