Boat and Skill Level Any boat would work. Beginners should have no problem here. This is all flat water.
Directions Meet at Lake St. Louis Walmart parking lot at I-64 and Hwy 364 at 7 AM or go to Finger Lakes State Park. Take I-70 to Columbia Mo. and go north on Hwy 63 for 9.5 miles, turn right on Peabody Road and go 2 miles to park entrance, turn left and go 7/10th mile to parking lot and boat launch ramp.
Trip Information Finger Lakes State Park is an old coal strip mine. There are a number of lakes connected by narrow waterways. The water trail consists of two color coded trails with a channel connecting them for a total paddling distance of about 5 miles. It's a much prettier place than it sounds. It is noted for being a good place to catch large bluegill and I can say from personal experience that is true. PFD required, sun protection recommended. Bring a lunch and plenty of liquids. No adult beverages to be consumed on the water.
